Aeron - Blockchain solutions for aviation safety

Aeron’s solution relies on blockchain technology to track aircraft maintenance and pilot logs. Aeron is constructing a database and an online system that is decentralized, hosting global data on aircraft, flight schools and pilots. This electronic logging system would enable pilots to have logs that can be verified online, making aviation safer for everyone involved.

How did you come up with the idea of Aeron?

We are a group of aviation enthusiasts. Having to file a paper log book after each flight, it looked so awkward in this digital age. Furthermore, you need a certain number of flight hours logged every year to keep your license active. We are well aware of the cases of fake log book entries. This jeopardises safety in aviation, as inexperienced pilots can get their licenses renewed or qualifications upgraded. We thought that blockchain technology is the perfect match to ensure log records are written in reliable and transparent manner. With certain marketing effort and lobbying, pilot and aircraft log records on blockchain could become a global standard.

What main challenges have you faced so far?

The challenging aspect is to bring our word out, as the audience is saturated with so many ICOs (token sales) running at the same time. While we believe our business idea and capabilities are sound, communication and differentiation becomes a challenge.

Who/what inspired doing an ICO?

We have seen a number of successful cases like TenX or Binance, where investment was raised for a good business concept, and this inspires us.

How do you see the future of Aeron?

We intend to develop Aeron into the truly global solution, recognised by aviation authorities as the reference source of data. Blockchain technology makes perfect sense to ensure integrity of private pilot logs and, ultimately, aircraft maintenance records.

AERON brings a solution for better safety in the airplane industry via blockchain technology.

Overall, this project seems very strong. The company already has an existing user database, which is a good step towards having a tangible product before the public crowdsale. They also provide real use cases that are concrete and understandable.

Their whitepaper is quite thorough, the team looks strong and is transparent. They also provide a roadmap for the next 2 years and have a strong social presence.
